Titus Nixon, new JPII Athletic Director

St. John Paul II High School is excited to announce the hiring of Titus Nixon as the new athletic director. Mr. Nixon, an alumnus of the class of 2005, has been coaching basketball at the school for the past 4 years: Two as the women’s head coach, and the last two as the men’s varsity coach. Mr. Nixon will continue in his role as the head coach for men’s basketball, along with taking on the position of athletic director.

“I am very excited to step into this very important role at SJPII,” said Mr. Nixon. “I look forward to expanding the growth of our wonderful athletic program as an alumnus, coach, and athletic director. I will also assist in expanding local awareness of this incredible school by continuing to be an active member of both the greater Tallahassee area and the local Catholic community.”

St. John Paul II most recently enrolled 174 students during the 2015-2016 school year, and is a FHSAA member of the 3-A classification. The school has seen great success in many of its varsity sports over its 15 year history.

“I am proud of the great things we have achieved in our brief history, including making it to the state final four, conference championships, and having multiple individual athletes recognized as some of the best in the state. Moving forward, we know that Panther athletics will continue to play an important role as the school continues to grow,” Mr. Nixon stated. “As a Catholic school which strives for excellence in all things, we will continue to take our athletics to the next level. As we do this, we confidently follow in the footsteps of another former athlete: St. John Paul II. So, as we prepare for this upcoming school year, we look to our patron as a model of how athletics can assist in forming young men and women in mind, body, and spirit.”
