Cross Country update

The JPII Cross Country team kicked off their season on Saturday at the second annual Cougar Challenge in Tallahassee. The race presented a challenging course in Elinor Klapp-Phipps park. The girls ran Saturday morning at 8 am and the boys followed shortly after at 8:40 am.

The Panthers ran a great race with the ladies finishing 7th overall tieing Aucilla Christian Academy with 172 points out of 12 teams. The Lady Panthers were lead by a top 15 finish from Julia Rose Travis with a time of 24:18.27 on the challenging course. Emma Travis finished 21st with a time of 25:16. Taylor Bickett (43), Kelly Kolman (44) and Natasha Manos (77) rounded out the Panther pack in a field of 116 runners.

Matthias Laywell lead the Panther boys with a finish of 21:46 earning 75th place out of 185 runners. Nate Rabideau (22:31), Rick Bessey (23:05) and James DiMarco (26:58) represented JPII well with their finishes. The boys look forward to running as a team next Saturday with a full varsity of 7 runners.

Both the girls and boys teams will race next Saturday in Jacksonville at the Katie Caples Invitational. The coaches and athletes are very excited about this season. Please keep all of our athletes in your thoughts and prayers!
