Dear Incoming JPII Parents and Students,
We would like to invite any new students to come out and join our Cross Country team for this season. Cross Country is a great sport in which athletes compete at meets across North Florida in a 5k or 3.1 mile race. It is not only an individual sport but also a team sport. Our boys and girls run as separate teams of 7 runners each. The top 5 runners score points based on their place. The lowest score wins the meet as a team. We are looking forward to a great season that includes running at the Disney Cross Country Classic in Orlando, the Panhandle Championship and also qualifying for the regional and state meets. Last year our girls were 8th in the region and our boys won the Bishop’s Award for having the highest GPA. Cross Country not only prepares you for starting positions on Winter and Spring Sports teams but is an amazing team experience where you will compete at a high level and build lasting friendships.
Our Summer Practice Schedule is as follows if you want to get a head start on this year:
Tuesdays at 8 am at Tom Brown Park
Wednesdays at 6:30 pm at Miccosukee Greenway
Fridays at 8 am at Forest Meadows Trails
For more information about our Cross Country team, please contact Coach Dickson at sdickson@jpiichs.org. You can also ask one of our amazing Cross Country runners during the first week of classes.
We hope you will come out and run with us!
Coach Dickson
