Panthers Track and Field at Regionals

John Paul II Track & Field teams sent a record number of 14 athletes to Regionals at Bishop Snyder High School, Jacksonville. They competed in 8 events and set 5 school records.
New school records were set by Julia Travis (3200 meter), Matthias Laywell (3200 meter), Natasha Manos (Triple Jump), the girls 4×400 relay team (Julia Travis, Emma Travis, Taylor Bickett, and Sarah Shine), the boys 4×800 relay (Nate Rabideau, Matthias Laywell, Aiden Murtha, and PJ Hollis).
Personal Records were set by Julia Travis (3200 meter), Taylor Bickett (400 meter dash), Natasha Manos (Triple Jump), Matthias Laywell (3200 meter), and Donovan Kelly (400 meter dash).
Coaches Francee Laywell, Scott Gordon and Caleb Coale deserve a round of applause for the growth of the Track and Field program and the guidance of these talented and hard working athletes.

A fun evening of awards and senior send-offs.

Both athletics and academics were honored and JPII has numerous students who excel in both.  Congratulations to all.  Thank you to all coaches, parents, teachers and volunteers who make it possible for our students to excel on and off the court or field.

Panthers at Track Regionals

The Girls 4×800 relay team had a very good showing at regionals. Everyone had a personal record and they came in 3rd in their heat.  On the girls’ team, Emma Travis set the school record for the 300 m hurdles with a time of 58.96.

The boys 4×800 team set a school record at Regionals with a time of 9:42.60.

This year the track teams have set several school records:
Matthias Laywell set the school record for the 1600m with a time of 5.20.

The boys 4×400 relay team set the school record with a time of 4.16.76
